Bhutia
This tribe is found in the north Sikkim Jewellery of Bhutia
tribe women comprises precious stones like coral, turquoise, gold and silver metal.
These women adorn ornaments like zuku(ring), deu (bracelet) and necklaces named
as Khao and Zuri. One can find Tibetan and Chinese touch in jewellery of Bhutia
tribe.
Dhokra
Spread in Jharkhand and Orissa, Dhokra tribe is basically
originated from West Bengal. The lost-wax technique of jewellery is developed
by Dhokras. Under this technique, jewellery
is hand-made. It uses Brass for casting.
Khasi
Khasis are immigrants who came to India from Myanmar. This
tribe basically resides in the state of Meghalaya. Several other states like West Bengal,
Manipur, Jammu & Kashmir have a concentration of this tribe too. Khasi
women wear Palia, a string made of bulky red coral beads. They also adorn
themselves with a pendant of 24 carat gold.
Banjara
This tribe belongs to Rajasthan. Their jewellery is famous
for wonderful usage of shells, coins, chains and beads etc. Banjara women wear
colourful jewellery. Banjara jewellery comprises necklaces, anklets, bracelets,
earrings and amulets.
Angami
Angami is a tribe of Nagaland. This tribal community is recognised as an
ecologically conscious community. In this community, both sexes wear jewellery
like bracelet and pendants. Women wear necklaces made of beads and metal.
